PREDICTABLE, FIXED-RATE FEES
After having completed his articles in Halifax at a leading Atlantic Canadian regional law firm, Adam was called to the bar in 2005. He then returned to practice law in his home region, becoming a partner in 2007 of a firm that eventually grew 10 lawyers in 6 locations in Eastern Nova Scotia, Cape Breton, and Halifax.
Adam has appeared in all levels of Court in Nova Scotia, including successful appearances in the Nova Scotia Court of Appeal. His areas of practice include criminal defense, commercial, personal injury and insurance litigation, organizational governance, and municipal law. He is currently counsel to the Personal Representative of the late Cpl. Lionel Desmond in the Desmond Fatality Inquiry.
Maintaining an informed, modern approach to the practice of law has always been important to Adam. He has been a member of the Atlantic Provinces Trial Lawyers Association (APTLA), an organization of plaintiff-side litigators, as well as a member of the American Association for Justice (AAJ). He was awarded the Gary J. Bigg Scholarship Award for young litigators at the AAJ National Conference in New York City in July, 2011. He is also a member of the Nova Scotia Criminal Lawyers Association.
Adam is also an active volunteer who believes in giving back to his province and his community. He is a board member with Engage Nova Scotia, President of the Strait Pirates Junior Hockey team, President of the ROC Society Foundation, Past President of the Strait Area Chamber of Commerce and former Executive Board member of the Mulgrave Road Theatre.
Born and raised in Guysborough Intervale, Adam graduated with a finance-focused business degree from Acadia University in 1999 and from Dalhousie Law School in 2004. While at Dalhousie, Adam was awarded the Craig Bauer Scholarship for excellence in Tort Law and Intramural Sports.
Away from the office and classroom, Adam enjoys outdoor adventure and athletic pursuits. He was formerly a national caliber fastpitch softball pitcher, has since competed in Olympic-distance triathlons, and is also a mountain biker, hockey and tennis player..
